Sooo...my random trivia factoid of the midnight hour.
The phrase "beyond the pale" came up in recent conversation with Qai.
And then, while innocently researching Irish history, I came across this:
In 1171, King Henry II conquered Ireland.
In 1297, the Normans realized that despite the fact that they were nominally in control, ahaha, no. So they established an Irish Parliament in "the old Viking city of Dublin" (bwahahaha). But really, this only let them control a small area of the east coast. So, the few hundred square miles of fertile farmland settled by civilized, gentil *Normans*, became known as "the Pale." And the rest of Gaelic Ireland, which continued to live by its own rules was "beyond the Pale."
So. Now you too know.
Teh pain.
I went and saw Finding Nemo with Qai. (I feel so speshul.)
Fun was had.
Sugar *was* eaten.
I think I need sleep now.
